“I second-guess myself all the time, that’s one of my biggest problems. That’s why it really helps me to have a producer in the room when I’m writing because a lot of times I’d scrap an idea that was great just because I didn’t have someone there to tell me, “No that is a good idea”. I’m kind of my own worst enemy in that sense. I definitely second-guess myself but in retrospect, looking back on how this record came together I think one major thing that I learned is that you just gotta have to take chances. It’s always gonna be a risk.”

“At every meet and greet people hand me letters and the stuff written in some of them is extremely brutal and honest. Realizing that these people are throwing their feelings and emotions at me and then I’m not reciprocating is starting to feel weird, almost rude. I think people have seen one side of us enough—the asshole side of us will always be there—but I think there’s a big part of this band’s progress where the other side will start to come out. People need to realize that we have those dark secrets too and some of those songs on Dirty Work are the way that I’m handing something back to the people that hand me letters.”
